1. FOLLOW THE FOOTPRINTS, VISIT THE LABORATORIES, EXPERIMENT WITH THE TECHNOLOGIES

Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Povo

West, North, East Buildings in via Sommarive 18
3:00 pm  – 7:00 pm
See how the “Sterile Room” works, where silicon devices are created for the largest European experiment at CERN in Geneva; enter the FBK laboratories and discover the secrets of microscopic worlds; experiment with new technologies that move beyond personal computers and take a look at the video cameras of the future. Don’t forget to try the voice-activated television, animate photographs with 3D images and challenge new surveillance systems with face recognition technology. This and more is possible in the research laboratories of FBK!

Fondazione Edmund Mach – Istituto Agrario San Michele all’Adige

2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Visit our laboratories to discover how much information an apple holds and see how we can produce fruit with the least number of chemical substances. Come in and learn about sequencing, an essential step in understanding the role of the genome in fruit plants that can help improve their quality and nutrition. Observe the universe in a drop of water – learn about phytoplankton and other essential microorganisms which affect the quality of the water in our rivers and lakes. Listen to the music of insects or relax with a frosty liquid nitrogen ice cream whipped up during our scientific coffee breaks! Pay a visit to FEM for a fascinating exploration of the life sciences!

University of Trento
Department of Juridical Sciences
4:30 pm
"The public administration must be transparent and provide high quality services.” Easy enough to say, but much harder to actually meet this legitimate request. To achieve this, public institutions often use the services of legal researchers. How can they be useful? For example, they help to define correct and effective legislation; assist and support judges in interpreting the law or suggest best practices. Come to the Faculty of Juridical Sciences to see how their work can be useful to improving the quality of life for all of us.

Faculty of Economics
3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Did you know that the economic crisis has a lot to do with psychology? There are even scientists who try to simulate consumers’ behaviour in the laboratory in order to explain the reasons behind economic trends. Come to the Experimental Economics Laboratory (CEEL) and participate in five surprising experiments to discover how much we allow our decisions to be influenced by the context and by psychology.Dipartment of Economics
